Constipation during Pregnancy

Constipation during pregnancy is not new at all to an expectant mother. This is just one of the effects of the drastic hormonal change caused by pregnancy. Constipation can happen on any period of the pregnancy. The body retains water which can cause constipation. As the baby inside grows and develop inside the womb, the digestive system becomes less cooperative which can be one of the reason for having constipation.

Constipation during PregnancyDuring the first trimester, you may have a low appetite which can eventually form gas in the stomach which can eventually result to constipation. If you are taking medication during pregnancy it can also cause constipation. Taking medicine for iron and calcium can even worsen the problem. If you can ask your doctor for medicines that can also act as fiber supplements, then it would help you in your problem with constipation. However, there are remedies that you can do at home that can relieve constipation.

Remedies you can do at home to avoid constipation during pregnancy
Remember to always drink lots of water to keep you hydrated. Juices and other fluids can also help hydrate the body. Constipation is mostly caused by dehydration as you don’t have enough water that can soften the stool which can be emptied easily. Drink 2 or more glasses of warm water in the morning before you eat your breakfast. You will feel better all day long as the toxins in the body are eventually removed.

Constipation during PregnancyEat fruits that are rich in fiber. Juicy fruits are also best when pregnant. Banana, Oranges, grapes and plums are recommended. These fruits can help in the bowel movement in the intestines and can flush the waste out of the body.

Include ginger powder in your diet or in any food that you eat. Ginger can help in the digestion and it can get rid of gas, acids and also constipation. You can have ginger tea or ale to relieve constipation and bloating.

Dates can relieve constipation. It also regulates blood level and circulation and can provide strength and also provide iron that the body needs.

Soup and juices from vegetables and fruits can provide you the energy that you need essential nutrients and water to the body. Drink the soups while they are still warm while the juice can be taken at room temperature. This can add water to the body and eventually prevent constipation.
